Building on the initial workshop in August 2017, ongoing discussion within the Natural Capital Coalition has seen 25 organisations sign on to a joint statement agreeing to combine forces across the private and public sectors to improve our capacity to ensure that natural capital is a regular feature of decision making.
In launching the statement at the World Forum on Natural Capital in Edinburgh, IDEEA Group Director, Carl Obst, reinforced the need to develop common understandings of natural capital among experts, decision makers and the general public. He found motivation in Victor Hugo’s observation that “Nothing is so powerful as an idea whose time has come”.
Being led by the IDEEA Group on behalf of the Coalition the Combining Forces initiative will work to bring together different sectors to develop a work program. Watch this space.
