Mark Eigenraam and Carl Obst established IDEEA Group in September 2015.
They’d met a few years before that while working with the United Nations on the development of the System of Environmental Economic Accounting (UN SEEA), the international standard for natural capital accounting.
As many of you know, Carl is the lead author of the SEEA.
Together, Mark and Carl have championed the use of natural capital accounting around the world. Their projects have covered many areas of the globe, from China to Brazil, and Ireland to the Pacific.
Since 2015, the team has grown to include four more natural capital accountants – Reiss Mcleod, Dan Whitaker, Ziggy Gelman and Lachlan Dawson. Maria Angelopoulos and Dan Vardon provide research and data analysis support, while Daniela Cole and Lyndall Thomas work in marketing and communications.
This brilliant team plans to take natural capital accounting even further over the next 10 years. A new, updated version of the Data4Nature software platform is on the way, opening up endless opportunities for natural capital data management and reporting for organisations of all shapes and sizes.
