The Australian Government is developing a nature repair market to encourage investment in biodiversity and create environmental improvements across the country.
The Nature Repair Market Bill is currently out for consultation – and there are only a few days left to have your say. The consultation period closes this Friday 24 February and we encourage as many people as possible to comment on the draft legislation.
IDEEA Group feels strongly that accounting for the services and benefits nature provides is a fundamental component that’s missing from the current draft of the legislation.
We also think it’s important not to reinvent the wheel. Let’s underpin the Nature Repair Bill with the framework that’s already in use in Australia and around the world: the United Nations System of Environmental Economic Accounting (SEEA).
