The TEEBAgriFood initiative seeks to provide a comprehensive economic evaluation of the “eco-agri-food systems” complex, and demonstrate that the economic environment in which farmers operate is distorted by significant externalities, both negative and positive, and a lack of awareness of dependency on natural, human and social capital.

In 2020, IDEEA Group was commissioned to produce a guidance document to help governments apply the TEEBAgriFood Evaluation Framework using natural capital principles. Underpinned by the UN System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA), the Framework helps countries measure the stocks and flows of environmental and food-producing assets to understand the services and benefits they provide.
