Mark Eigenraam

Mark has worked in natural capital accounting for over 20 years. He's helped develop environmental markets. And he's worked in academic institutions and government agencies at all levels.

Mark produced Australia’s first set of experimental ecosystem accounts. He also worked at the United Nations in New York on the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) – the international standard.

Mark advises organisations around the world in the application of natural capital accounting. He develops processes and systems that highlight nature-based risks and opportunities.

Mark has a Master of Commerce, Economics, from the University of Melbourne.

Carl Obst

Leading adaptation of SEEA principles to the design of context specific natural capital accounting solutions.

Carl is a global leader in natural capital accounting. He helps organisations around the world measure the benefits of nature.

Carl was the lead author of the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) – the international standard.

Carl has a background in national accounts, including five years as head of the Australian National Accounts with the Australian Bureau of Statistics. He uses natural capital accounting to help organisations make effective and sustainable decisions.

Carl has a Bachelor of Economics, Econometrics, from the University of New England (AU).

Reiss Mcleod
Senior Economist

Reiss Mcleod

Applying natural capital accounting to address challenges and opportunities across the public and private sectors.

Reiss plays a leading role in the practical application of natural capital accounting at IDEEA Group. He understands our clients’ unique challenges and opportunities and how natural capital accounting can address them.

Reiss has experience in compiling accounts both in the public and private sector. He's worked across many contexts, including the Irish peatlands, Australian oceans, Tasmanian forests, Melbourne’s urban and rural areas, and China’s industrial parks.

He is experienced in spatial data and analytics, and in integrating environmental and economic information to deliver insights that are relevant for communication and decision making.

Prior to working at IDEEA Group, Reiss worked with the Victorian Government and in Laos with Monash University.

Reiss holds a Master of Economics from the University of Melbourne.

Daniel Whitaker
Senior Economist

Daniel Whitaker

Experienced practitioner in natural capital accounting.

Dan is an experienced practitioner in economics, science, risk management and finance.

His expertise includes natural capital accounting, non-market valuation, nature- and climate-related risk analysis, sustainable finance, environmental-economic modelling and carbon and energy economics and accounting.

Earlier in his career, Dan worked as a sustainability and climate change consultant in PwC’s Risk Consulting team. He then held a position at the National Australia Bank, where he advised on financial and non-financial risk management. This included considerable work on climate risk scenario analysis.

In his role with IDEEA, Dan supports public and private sector organisations on the use of natural capital data in investment decision-making, risk management and economic analysis.

Dan holds a Master of Applied Economics and Econometrics from Monash University.

Amy Morgan

Amy Morgan

Road mapping and baselining natural capital accounts.

Amy is an experienced cross-sectoral economist who is passionate about how the economy intersects with the environment and society. In her role with IDEEA Group, Amy supports organisations to understand and integrate a natural capital approach into their operations.

Prior to working at IDEEA Group, Amy used a range of economic tools including risk assessments, adaptation planning, cost benefit analysis, financial modelling, business case development, non-market valuation and integrated data analysis using spatial and non-spatial techniques. She has applied these tools to various sectors including agriculture, climate change, waste management, urban and rural water, transport, and energy markets.

Ziggy Gelman
Economist

Ziggy Gelman

Technical analysis of economic and environmental data.

Ziggy is an experienced economist who is passionate about identifying the contribution that ecosystems have to our economy and society. In his role with IDEEA Group, Ziggy provides technical analysis of economic and environmental data and supports organisations to understand and integrate a natural capital approach into their operations.

Ziggy has experience in compiling accounts in Victoria, having worked on ecosystem accounts for urban Melbourne, the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks, Victoria’s forests and Victoria’s marine and coastal region.

Prior to working at IDEEA Group, Ziggy worked with the Victorian Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action. Ziggy has a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics and Finance) from the University of Melbourne.

Lyndall Thomas
Communications Manager

Lyndall Thomas

Developing and implementing communication strategies.

Lyndall helps us develop and implement communication strategies. She manages multiple communication channels, supports project planning and delivery, and builds stakeholder relationships.

Lyndall has over 20 years of experience in marketing and communications. Her expertise encompasses digital and print media in a range of editorial and design capacities. Her previous role was as the Founder and Managing Director of the Information Access Group, where she helped organisations meet the diverse literacy needs of the community. In that role, her clients included royal commissions, government departments and community organisations.

Lyndall has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Literature from Deakin University.

Sam Reeves
Programmer and Data Analyst

Sam Reeves

Creating software solutions for natural capital accounts.

Sam develops Data4Nature, our software solution for natural capital accounting and environmental valuation. He works with organisations to create natural capital accounts and assessment reports.

Before joining IDEEA Group, he held a role in the Victorian Public Service. He worked on tools for managing and interpreting social data, and reporting for department ministers.

Sam holds a Bachelor of Science majoring in Applied Mathematics from the University of Melbourne.

Maria Angelopoulos
Research Assistant

Maria Angelopoulos

Broad-reaching research work underpinning our natural capital approaches.

Maria ensures that our client work is accurate, timely and concise. Her broad-reaching research work underpins our natural capital approaches, especially in relation to mapping and collating existing policies and data, and identifying themes.

Maria also works as a Research Assistant for Melbourne University’s School of Ecosystem and Forest Sciences where she is supporting the review of the Montreal Process’ Criteria and Indicator framework on sustainable forest management in Victoria.

Maria holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Environment (Master level program) from the University of Melbourne.
