We’re pleased to announce that our Director, Carl Obst, has joined the Advisory Committee of the Intrinsic Exchange Group (IEG).

IEG is a financial innovation company that develops market-based solutions to enable nature, people and economies to thrive.

Their mission is to create a thriving future for all life on Earth through innovative, market-based solutions that support the transition to a nature-positive, regenerative economy.

Natural capital accounting is central to the IEG approach. Carl will be advising on the application of the UN System of Environmental Economic Accounting (SEEA) as the foundation for a reporting framework.

One of IEG’s key initiatives is the development of a new type of company: the Natural Asset Company, or NAC. NACs are specifically structured to restore and grow the value of natural assets. Through long-term stewardship and regenerative management, NACs enhance the productivity and resilience of natural assets.

Investors can use NACs to finance conservation, restoration, natural infrastructure and nature-based solutions at scale. NACs align the interests of natural asset owners, investors, and communities who become shareholders that can financially benefit from the restoration and growth of healthy ecosystems.
