Gain insights to drive actions that restore ecosystem health and increase the flow of ecosystem services
To achieve ecosystem outcomes, spatial analysis typically reveals that some areas are more critical than others. Natural capital accounting (NCA) enables natural capital managers to understand how ecosystem services such as flood mitigation, habitat provision, cultural enrichment, food and fibre provision, and recreational amenity provide public and private benefits. Further, NCA describes how the health of an ecosystem underpins these flows. This enables the principles of sustainability to be translated into context specific management plans. Key policies and management criteria are thus transparently defined in ways that are auditable and reportable.
